Hi Traveler99. Well, I'm also a teen of 18 years! I wish to help you out with some little advices. I hope this may help you out. Firstly, I respect your feelings for your beloved girlfriend. I wish to explain some things to you as well. You know, buddy, you girlfriend's parents are elders and whatever they are doing is for the welfare of their daughter. They are being very protective, obviously, because their daughter is still young as well as you. You have been dating for 7 months and you are ostensibly hasting with the relationship. When the girl's parents say that college is a 'different scene' and that 'you will end up hurting her', they are not really at fault. I guess they must have undergone these phases also during their teen time. They want to protect their daughter because they feel that they know much more than you, your girlfriend and even more than I do. They are elders and have experienced many things. They said these things because once at college, you might 'end up hurting their daughter', according to them, by indulging yourself into other stuffs, parties, enjoyment and sex stuff! This is a very common thing among teens. So, they find their daughter going astray and they find you too immature and young to shoulder the responsibility of their daughter. Every parent wants the happiness of their progeny, no doubt. As a result, they find it improper to entrust their daughter in your hands now. Perhaps, they feel that their daughter needs to learn more from life. She has a long way before her, to make her own career and her own life. She is barely 17 years. It may not be fair to involve her in a hasty relationship. Maybe, my friend, you must give some time to your girlfriend and to yourself. Don't focus mainly on the emotions that thrusts you to do all this. I really respect your feelings for you girlfriend, indeed! But, you must give yourself loads of time. You have to think about so many things before going to see her parents.
For example, what are your plans for the future? Do you really love her? Is it love or just a sexual relationship? Will you be able to shoulder your responsibilities as a boyfriend, as a friend, mainly, as a life-partner? What do you think of the future together? What will be your profession? How do you think you will be able to maintain things and a stability between your girlfriend and you?
You need to ponder over all these things, my friend. Because if you are going to talk to her parents, you can't just ask for her hands and that's it! No! They need assurance, your trust and moreover, they seek to see the extent you can act as a responsible life-partner. Think feel before acting, my friend.
