Well I just want to point out/ask How did the rumor start? and How long has the rumor been? I agree with Psychologist that if your friends dont believe you then thet're not actually your true friend. You may talk about this to the friends that do talk to you, and if they dont believe the rumor then you can have them to help to you with your situation too.
What I think its a good way is to talk to your friends about it and convince them and/or everyone else that the rumor isnt true. The people who trusts you are better then the people who dont trust you right!!! =P
